ZED is an engineering consultancy firm in the areas of Integrated
Infrastructure, Water and Environment. The once has a strong
presence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
ZED consults is established by Mr. Muhammad El-Zanaty , Deputy
of Housing Ministry in 2019 and managed by Dr. Hisham El-Zanaty in Giza-Egypt as a private bureau for environmental services and infrastructure projects.

Infrastructure, Water Supplies & Sewerage including the water
and wastewater treatment facilities, beside the industrial
wastewater plants that serve a wide sector of industries.

We are providing complete design services for surface water treatment plants drawing from the Nile River, its branches, or irrigation canals. Our designs are tailored to each project’s needs, applying the most suitable and advanced technologies — including conventional clarifiers, clariflocculators, tube settlers, pulsators, and super pulsators , accompanied with filtration stage to ensure efficient, reliable, and cost-effective treatment solutions.

We are specialized in the design of desalination plants for both seawater and brackish water sources. Our expertise covers all major desalination technologies, including Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems and Multi-Stage Flash (MSF) distillation units, delivering efficient and sustainable solutions that meet international standards and local environmental requirement .

ZED provides specialized services for the rehabilitation, optimization, and capacity upgrade of existing water and wastewater treatment plants. We prepare detailed technical assessment and evaluation reports, identification of performance bottlenecks, and the development of engineering solutions to enhance plant efficiency, reduce operational costs, and extend the facility’s service life.

We provides design and engineering services for oil removal and treatment systems in petroleum and industrial facilities. Our expertise covers the development of efficient oil separation units and treatment stages that handle oily wastewater generated from production, maintenance, and storage activities. Through practical experience and proven solutions, we deliver systems that ensure high separation efficiency, low maintenance requirements, and full compliance with environmental discharge limits, achieving the treated water quality required for safe and efficient reinjection into production wells.

One of our strength field of treatment is the iron and manganese removal plants to ensure the production of high-quality drinking water. Our designs address groundwater and surface water sources that contain elevated levels of dissolved iron and manganese, which can cause discoloration, taste issues, and scaling problems. Using proven solutions such as aeration, oxidation–filtration, and advanced media filtration systems, we deliver reliable, low-maintenance, and cost-effective treatment plants that meet international drinking water standards.

ZED has the capability to design complete Water Supply and Sewerage Networks for urban and rural areas. The office provides integrated engineering solutions covering hydraulic design, network layout optimization, and selection of suitable materials and components. ZED also performs advanced hydraulic modeling using professional software such as WaterCAD, SewerCAD, and EPANET, ensuring accurate simulation and system performance evaluation. In addition, the office prepares As-Built Drawings and detailed construction documentation, ensuring full compliance with international standards and local authority requirements.

ZED provides comprehensive MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) design and consultancy services for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and related infrastructure. The office develops complete MEP systems covering HVAC, power distribution, lighting, instrumentation, control, fire fighting networks and plumbing networks. ZED also prepares detailed shop drawings, load calculations, and control philosophy diagrams, ensuring full coordination between mechanical, electrical, and process systems. All designs are developed to be energy-efficient, reliable, and compliant with international codes and client specifications, delivering safe and cost-effective solutions.

ZED provides a comprehensive range of technical and environmental studies that support sound decision-making throughout all project stages. The office prepares detailed Feasibility Studies to evaluate the technical, financial, and operational viability of projects. Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) are conducted to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to minimize potential impacts.
ZED also performs specialized studies such as Risk Assessment, HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Analysis), and CHAZOP (Control System Hazard and Operability Study) to identify and mitigate potential design and operational risks. In addition, Value Engineering services are provided to optimize project performance, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency without compromising safety or quality.

Among the various fields our office covers, we also provide design and engineering services for Water Hammer Protection Systems. These systems are developed as part of our integrated approach to ensure the safety and reliability of water and wastewater networks. Through surge analysis and proper selection of protection equipment such as surge vessels, air release valves, and relief systems, we help clients minimize operational risks and maintain stable system performance — as part of our complete water and wastewater engineering solutions.

This project was including 5 iron & Manganese removal plant in Monufia with different capacities ranging form 2,400 - 9,600 m3/day.
Plant was designed and executed to supply clean drinking water according to the Egyptian code for drinking water and WHO standards.
Each plant was supplied from wells, each equipped with borehole pump to supply the deceleration chamber, water then undergoes oxidation stage, precipitation, filtration stage and finally storage to be pumped to the public network. All plant tanks and equipment are prefabricated and skid mounted to reduce construction time and to meet client tight time frame.

he plant is designed to treat the surface water from Ismailia canal, the plant consists of Raw water pumping station, advanced Tube Settlers, Rapid Gravity Filters, Treated water pumping station, and Underground storage tank
The plant was design in a compact module to fit minimum footprint taking in considerations the ease of accessibility and equipment and chemical handling as there were existing buildings in the site

Existing plant is design with traditional process coagulation, flocculation, settling and filtration using rapid gravity sand filters and most of plant units need to be rehabilitate to be able to treat the full capacity 20,000 m3/day to serve Beni Mazar City. Most of equipment required to be revamped specially the filters, all filter's media required to be replaced and all filter's nozzles and concrete slabs, also the raw and treated water pumping station. The target was to rehabilitate the existing plant according to the rehabilitation report without any impact on the operation of the plant to keep it serving network and without cutting out the supplying of water to the city.

The client main challenging requirement was to reduce the oil concentration 90% without
expose the flow to air according the safety procedure. ZED designed closed system to reduce the 1500 ppm oil to 40 ppm with efficient operation and monitory for all parameter to ensure the effluent water quality. The water/oil concentrations were fluctuating and the plant should absorb and treat this high fluctuation without stopping the plant under any circumstances as the contractor agreement was "No Cure No Pay".
It was a tough challenge

This project is a challenging one, as the client requirements was extremely hard, ZED has
studied the process for each part, the project was consists of A. Sodium Silicate Production line B. Sodium Aluminate Production line
C. Water Treatment Plant RO to reduce the TDS in city water for using in Boilers
D. Boilers Zone
E. Cooling Zone
ZED has conducted all hydraulic calculations and studies for all new lines including valves, control system, SCADA system, Instrumentations that guarantee the process to be run smooth and fully automated

The Project is included in Makkah City Urgent Projects, it divided into four sections as follow

The Project is aiming to upgrade the water supply system including the feed water
wells ,feed water networks, upgrade of the existing RO plant capacity and the Water Hammer protection system, ZED has conducted a full design report for all project section, ZED has obtained detailed report for the hydro-geological wells status and serving zone, Studying the feeding Networks, design the third phase for the desalination plant and finally the
water hammer protection system.

The Plant is serving Zabadeen city to treat wastewater with SBR process type, the plant is
consists of inlet works (screens, G&G removal chamber), raw water pumping station to
feed the SBR reactors (Quantity : 20)then to the chlorine contact tank for disinfection
process, the sludge out from SBR tanks are pumped to aerated sludge stabilization tanks
to reduce the volume and stabilized the sludge before mechanical de-watering for further
reduction of volume

This contract aims to conduct studies (Design Contract for Wells, Desalination Plant, and Connection Works to Feed the Existing Water Network in Adham Governorate).
Scope Includes:

The plant is for treating the industrial wastewater form diary factory (Al -Hafeed), the purpose of the plant is to treat wastewater to be able to be disposed to the public sewer network with the local regulations, it was as challenging project as the water TDS was very high.
We have studied and investigated the factory operation scheme to be able to solve and innovate a way to treat the wastewater according to the required effluent parameters.

This project was a domestic sewage treatment plant for the Labor camp
facilities from NEOM project.
The plant designed using extended aeration process with tertiary treatment to reuse the effluent treated water for land scape irrigation purposes.
The plant included pretreatment, biological treatment, physical separation for suspended solids, disinfection and finally the filtration stage to achieve the required effluent water characteristics for irrigation.

The purpose of this study was assessment and preparing the technical specifications for rehabilitation of two water treatment plants including the feeding wells in SADAT City.
Each plant required major rehabilitation/replacement for the main units including mechanical and electrical works in order to reoperate with the designed capacity.

ZED designed a 500 m³/day Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant for a poultry farm in Saudi Arabia, covering the full engineering design and construction drawings.
The system was developed to provide high-quality treated water that meets the farm’s operational and production needs efficiently and sustainably.
